Pune Metro Extends Service Hours to 11 PM from Republic Day, Adds More Late-Night Trips
Pune, January 26: In a move to benefit late-night commuters, the Pune Metro will extend its operational hours to 11 PM daily starting Republic Day, January 26. This extension, announced by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro), addresses a long-standing demand from passengers, including frequent flyers and train travelers.
Currently, the first metro trip begins at 6 AM, and the last departures are scheduled for 10 PM on the Vanaz-Ramwadi and Pimpri-Swargate routes. The additional hour will add at least four trips on both routes after 10 PM, with a frequency of 15 minutes. During peak hours (8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM), the metro operates with a frequency of seven minutes, while non-peak hours have a 10-minute interval between trains.
“The extended service hours will benefit citizens who return home late from work,” said Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha-Metro.
The Vanaz-Ramwadi route takes approximately 37 minutes to traverse, while the Pimpri-Swargate route takes 34 minutes. The metro recorded a daily footfall of over two lakh on January 1, 2025, showcasing its growing popularity.
To mark Republic Day, citizens can also avail of the One Pune Transit Card facility at a discounted rate of ₹20, Hardikar announced.
