Water Tanker Chaos In Pune: Spillage, Accidents, and Negligence
Salunkhe Vihar Road in Kondhwa continues to be a nightmare for residents, plagued by the relentless movement of water tankers spilling water near Kotak Mahindra Bank. However, beyond inconvenience, the situation has now escalated into a major safety threat.
In a shocking incident today morning, a water tanker suffered a sudden tyre burst near Café Farm House at 10:30 AM, causing panic among commuters and injuring one person. The loud explosion and the driver’s struggle to control the heavy vehicle raised fresh concerns about tanker maintenance and road safety. Had the tanker been at higher speed or near a crowded area, the accident could have been far worse.
Residents are questioning the safety standards of these vehicles and the authorities’ inaction. “We live in constant fear of these tankers. Who ensures their roadworthiness? How many more accidents before action is taken?” asked Jaymala Dhankikar from NIBM Annexe Forum.
Adding to the chaos is the continuous movement of heavy vehicles in the area, worsening road conditions and making daily commutes dangerous. Locals demand an immediate solution: strict monitoring of water tankers, restriction of their movement, and most importantly, a proper tap water supply by PMC to reduce dependency on private tankers.
The recent accident is a warning sign—if authorities continue to ignore this issue, it’s only a matter of time before a more serious tragedy unfolds. Will PMC step up and take action before it’s too late?
