Pune: Murlidhar Mohol Visits BJP Worker Assaulted by Gajanan Marne Gang, Supriya Sule Questions Law & Order
Pune, February 22, 2025: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol visited the residence of Devendra Jog, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker who was recently assaulted by members of the Gajanan Marne gang.
Mohol shared details of his visit on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “After the attack on BJP worker Devendra Jog, my wife and I visited him at his home. I went directly to his residence after returning from Gujarat and Delhi.”
Jog sustained serious injuries in the assault, and the accused have been arrested. Mohol assured the victim and his family of strict action against the attackers. He also instructed Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take stringent measures, emphasizing that such incidents will not be tolerated.
Attack on BJP Worker in Pune
According to Pune Police, the assault occurred around 4:30 PM on Wednesday at Bhelkenagar Chowk in Kothrud. Jog, who was on his way to Gujarat Colony, momentarily stopped due to a Shiv Jayanti procession when an argument escalated into a physical attack.
A man confronted Jog about his bike riding, and before he could respond, another man slapped him hard, causing his nose to bleed. He fell off his bike, and three to four individuals began kicking and punching him. One of the attackers even used a belt to assault him before fleeing towards Gujarat Colony.
A case has been registered at Kothrud Police Station under sections 109 and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three accused have been arrested, while one remains absconding.
Supriya Sule Raises Concern Over Law & Order in Pune
Meanwhile, NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule questioned the deteriorating law and order situation in Pune. She remarked, “Even the close associates of Union Ministers are not safe in Pune. If this is the condition for them, what about common citizens? Goons have been operating freely in Pune, brandishing weapons and engaging in street violence. The Chief Minister must act immediately to restore law and order.”
The incident has sparked political outrage and renewed concerns over safety in Pune. The police investigation is ongoing.
