Pune: Woman Arrested From Vadgaon Sheri For Stealing Jewelry Under The Pretext Of Housework
Pune: The Chandannagar police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole gold jewelry and cash while working as a domestic help. The accused, identified as Rutuja Rajesh Surushe, a resident near Assembly Church, Vadgaon Sheri, was found involved in two theft cases.
The case came to light when a 52-year-old woman from Vadgaon Sheri filed a complaint with the Chandannagar police station. She had traveled to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on February 17 for work and returned on February 25, only to discover that 27 grams of gold jewelry and cash were missing from her cupboard.
During the investigation, police found that Surushe, who worked at the complainant’s house, was responsible for the theft. Upon her arrest, officers recovered 77 grams of stolen gold jewelry and ₹5,500 in cash from her residence. Further interrogation revealed that she had also stolen 60 grams of gold and cash from another woman’s house on Old Mundhwa Road.
The police have seized the stolen jewelry, cash, and a two-wheeler from the accused. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane. Senior Inspector Seema Dhakane, Assistant Inspector Prashant Mane, Sub-Inspectors Ashwini Patil and Laxman Navghane, along with police personnel Kalsait, Girme, and Kakade, played key roles in the investigation.
