Pimpri-Chinchwad, June 22, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has significantly intensified its anti-encroachment campaign across the city, carrying out enforcement action at 820 locations between April 1 and June 22, 2026. The drive is aimed at reclaiming public spaces, roads, footpaths, drains, and removing unauthorized constructions.

Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, the Encroachment Removal Department undertook action against 451 unauthorized structures during the period. As a result, approximately 104,270.96 square metres of encroached land was cleared and restored for public use.

The civic body also removed 23 encroachments obstructing natural drainage channels, freeing nearly 839 square metres of space. Officials said the action is part of efforts to maintain the natural flow of stormwater drains and prevent flooding during the monsoon season.

In addition, the corporation removed 346 encroachments involving street vendors, hawkers, temporary stalls and other obstructions that were affecting pedestrian movement and public convenience on roads and footpaths.

PCMC officials stated that the campaign will continue to focus on keeping public roads, footpaths and civic spaces free from encroachments while curbing unauthorized construction activities across the city.

Appealing to citizens for cooperation, the civic administration urged residents not to encourage illegal constructions or encroachments on public property and to support efforts to keep the city clean, safe and well-organized.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi said that public spaces, roads, footpaths and drains are meant for the use of citizens and that encroachments adversely affect civic amenities and public safety. He emphasized that the anti-encroachment drive will continue with greater intensity and strict action will be taken against violators.
