Pune – April 11, 2025 – Under the initiative ‘Mahila Aayog Aplya Dari’ (Women’s Commission at Your Doorstep), the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission will be conducting a three-day visit to Pune district to hear grievances and provide immediate redressal to women.

Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar announced that the public hearings will take place from Tuesday, April 15 to Thursday, April 17. Grievances from urban areas will be heard on Tuesday, followed by hearings for Pune Rural on Wednesday. Both these sessions will be held at the Planning Hall, Collector’s Office, from 11 am. The third hearing will be conducted at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation premises on Thursday at 11 am.

Chairperson Chakankar has urged women to come forward and voice their complaints without fear. She emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure that women receive justice at the district level, eliminating the need for them to travel to Mumbai.

District officials including the Collector, Municipal Commissioners, Police officers, and representatives from relevant departments will be present at these hearings. The sessions will also be attended by legal advisors, counselors, and district coordinators, enabling immediate on-site action on complaints.

Following the hearings, a review meeting will be held to address broader issues concerning women and children in the district.

“Due to financial and other constraints, many women cannot travel to Mumbai for hearings. This initiative brings justice to their doorstep,” Chakankar added, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to accessible and effective grievance redressal.
