Pune: In a deeply distressing incident, two young men were found dead by hanging from the same branch of a lemon tree in Khirid Vasti, near Bharatmata Chowk in Moshi, under MIDC Bhosari Police Station limits. The incident came to light on the morning of April 12.
The deceased have been identified as: Tushar Ashok Dhage, 25, a resident of Honda Pimpalgaon, Taluka Jamkhed, District Ahilyanagar and Sikandar Sallauddin Shaikh, 30, reportedly from the same area.
Police said both men were friends and had travelled from their native village to Pune a day prior to the incident. The bodies were discovered early in the morning, hanging from a single tree branch, raising concerns of a possible suicide pact.
Tushar Dhage’s uncle, Dattatray Raosaheb Dhage, who resides in Sanaswadi, Taluka Shirur, was informed immediately by the authorities.
Senior Inspector of MIDC Bhosari Police Station confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause behind the deaths. “Preliminary information suggests they were close friends, but we are probing all angles to establish the motive or any underlying reasons,” he said.
The incident has shocked locals and the families of the deceased. Police are currently conducting further inquiries and await postmortem reports to proceed with the case.
