Unseasonal Rain to Lash Maharashtra Over Next 5 Days, IMD Issues Yellow Alerts Across Multiple Districts
Maharashtra Weather Update | May 3, 2025:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for unseasonal rain across large parts of Maharashtra over the next five days. The warning comes amid a severe heatwave gripping central Maharashtra and Marathwada, where daytime temperatures have soared between 40°C and 45°C in recent days.
Due to the influence of a western disturbance currently affecting northern India, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, rain activity is also expected to extend to parts of southern and western India. As a result, districts in Konkan, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada have been placed under yellow alert from May 3 to May 7.

May 3, 2025:
Yellow alerts for unseasonal rain have been issued for the following districts:
- Vidarbha: Nagpur, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli
- North Maharashtra and Marathwada: Nashik, Pune, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Latur, Nanded
May 4, 2025:
The yellow alert expands to more districts including:
- Nashik, Ahmednagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Jalgaon, Dhule, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli
- Isolated rainfall is also expected in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Pune, Satara, Beed, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded.
May 5, 2025:
Widespread unseasonal rain is likely across entire Maharashtra, including Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Most districts are under alert for thunderstorms and light to moderate rain.
May 6, 2025:
Rain alerts continue in parts of:
- Satara, Pune, Thane, Palghar, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Beed, Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Yavatmal, Chandrapur
- Light rain is expected in the rest of Konkan, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada.
May 7, 2025:
Unseasonal rainfall is expected to cover Konkan, Central and Northern Maharashtra, and most parts of Marathwada. Vidarbha may remain dry.

Despite the rain forecast, heat conditions remain extreme, especially in Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha. Many cities have reported temperatures exceeding 40°C.
