New Delhi, May 7 — Following India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), flight operations in several northern Indian cities were significantly disrupted on Wednesday. Leading carriers including Air India, SpiceJet, and IndiGo have cancelled or diverted multiple flights due to the heightened regional tensions.

Affected cities include Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Dharamshala, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, with authorities urging passengers to verify flight status before travelling to airports.

In an official update on X, Air India announced the suspension of all flights to and from these ten cities until 12 noon on May 7. “Two international flights en route to Amritsar are being diverted to Delhi. We regret the inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen disruption,” the airline stated.

Budget airline IndiGo confirmed that operations to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala have been impacted. “Due to changing airspace conditions, passengers are strongly advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport,” IndiGo posted.

SpiceJet issued a similar alert, stating that operations in Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ) have been suspended “until further notice.” The airline has urged travelers to refer to spicejet.com/#status for real-time updates.

The airspace disruptions come in the wake of a strategic strike carried out by India on Tuesday night, in response to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. According to officials, the military action—codenamed Operation Sindoor—was described as “measured and non-escalatory,” with no Pakistani military assets targeted.

Government sources confirmed that the strikes were carefully calibrated using precision weaponry and were closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As regional airspace conditions evolve, passengers are advised to remain alert to airline updates and allow for potential changes in travel plans.
