AI Technology To Boost Freshwater Fishery In Pune: Minister Nitesh Rane
Pune: Several decisions have been taken to promote the freshwater fishery business in Pune. A recent meeting regarding fishing in freshwater ponds was held, during which discussions were held on how to remove silt from ponds and the proposal to establish a large fishery center in Pune was brought up.
Minister Nitesh Rane mentioned that land is available in Hadapsar for this fishery center or an aquarium. He stated that the Department owns a 16 acre plot in the area and the officials have been asked to prepare a plan. AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology will be implemented in this fishery sector.
Minister Rane stated that measures are necessary to increase fish production in Pune as the current output is not yielding expected income. He added that changes will be seen in the upcoming financial year. While fish production is low in Sangli and Kolhapur, it is stable in Satara. Compared to last year, production has declined in Pune.

Rane also noted that fish yield has been affected in areas like Ujani Dam, and efforts are being made to bring control of such resources from the Water Resources Department to the Fisheries Department.
Rane assured that efforts will be made to support the economic growth of those involved in fish farming.
