In a shocking and heartbreaking case from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 12 stray dogs were allegedly poisoned within the premises of a residential society, leading to outrage among animal lovers and the local community. The tragic incident occurred on April 13 at the Mahindra Antheia Society, located near the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Administrative Building.

Police have arrested a 37-year-old resident of the society, Alaukik Raju Kotecha, in connection with the case. According to officials from the Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station, he is suspected of deliberately poisoning the animals.

Out of the 12 stray dogs targeted, three died instantly, while the remaining nine passed away during treatment. These dogs had been living in and around the society for several years and were known to residents.

CCTV footage from the society played a critical role in the investigation. On the morning of the incident, Alaukik was seen driving his car around the premises multiple times—about four to five rounds. The footage also shows some of the dogs running behind his vehicle.

Further investigation led police to search Alaukik’s mobile phone, where they reportedly found internet search history related to methods of poisoning. This discovery, along with his unusual behavior caught on camera, led the police to detain him.

Senior Police Inspector Vanita Dhumal, who is heading the case at the Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station, shared that the suspect was observed moving around the crime scene during the early hours, and suspicious content was found on his phone. She emphasized that the case is still under investigation and that appropriate legal action will follow if more evidence surfaces. The motive behind the poisoning remains unclear at this stage.
