Torrential Rain Triggers Flooding at Pune Airport's New Terminal, City Reels Under Waterlogging
Heavy rainfall on Tuesday led to severe waterlogging in Pune, flooding several areas across the city, including the exit terminal of Pune International Airport.
Visuals from the scene showed cars partially submerged, with water levels rising above their tires. The area outside the airport exit was completely flooded, making it extremely difficult for vehicles to navigate.
This situation disrupted travel for many passengers, especially those arriving in the morning who were forced to walk through ankle-deep water.
The flooding has once again highlighted the city’s inadequate drainage infrastructure. Authorities are currently working to drain the water and restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained a yellow alert for Bengaluru and surrounding parts of Karnataka. Issued on May 18, the alert remains in place for May 19 and May 20, according to IMD Bengaluru.
