Pune: The discovery of a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) vehicle allegedly involved in illegal dumping has intensified public outrage in Pisoli, where an unregulated waste segregation operation continues unabated near Hill Green High School. The incident has raised serious questions about the civic body’s accountability and response.

Despite earlier complaints, the illegal dumping—taking place immediately behind the school’s boundary wall—has not been stopped. Locals warn that the site poses an immediate health risk to students, staff, and residents, particularly during the monsoon season when the risk of infections is heightened.

The situation took a troubling turn when a concerned citizen submitted photographic evidence showing a PMC vehicle at the dumping site. “This proves the civic body is either complicit or grossly negligent. Their inaction, despite repeated complaints, is unacceptable,” said the resident.

The whistleblower also revealed that school authorities were informed of the activity via an anonymous letter two months ago but failed to take any steps. “It is deeply concerning that both civic officials and the school administration have turned a blind eye to this hazard.”

Residents, fearing backlash, have hesitated to speak out publicly. The waste operation remains hidden from main roads, which may have allowed it to continue unchecked.

In a renewed appeal, the resident urged immediate intervention and action. “This is not just about illegal dumping—it’s about the health and safety of an entire community. The evidence is clear, and so is our demand: shut it down.”

Photographs from March documenting the activity have been resubmitted with this latest complaint. Citizens now hope the visual proof will force the PMC to act responsibly and dismantle the illegal operation before further harm is done.
