Pune Bengaluru Highway: 65 Year Old Woman Swept Away In Nala Near Navale Bridge; Search Operation Underway
Pune, June 13, 2025 — A 65-year-old woman was swept away in a nala while attempting to cross the road near Navale Bridge on the Pune Bengaluru Highway. The incident occurred when the woman, identified as Shobha Manohar Mahimane, a resident of Darshan Park, Fursungi, Pune, was returning from Kolhapur and had disembarked on the bridge.
According to officials, Mahimane was trying to cross the road to find an auto-rickshaw when she slipped and fell into a roadside drain, which had an active water flow due to recent rains. Her slipper was later found under the bridge during initial search operations.
Fire brigade personnel from the Sinhagad Fire Station have launched a rescue and search operation, which is currently focused around the Prayeja City area and downstream sections of the drain. As of now, there is no trace of the woman.
Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution during the monsoon, especially near water-logged areas or open stormwater drains. Further updates are awaited as the search continues.
