Topper Girl Killed by Her Own Father for Scoring Low in NEET Prep Test
A 17-year-old girl from Maharashtra’s Sangli district died after being beaten by her father for getting low marks in a NEET mock test. The girl, named Sadhana, was a Class 12 student preparing for the medical entrance exam. Her father, Dhondiram Bhagwan Bhosale, has been arrested and is in police custody.
The incident happened on Friday night in Atpadi town. According to police, Sadhana had scored less marks in a NEET practice test. Her father, who is the principal of a private school, got angry and hit her with a wooden stick. Her mother, Preeti Bhosale, told police that her husband beat their daughter so badly that she got seriously hurt.
The next morning, the mother took Sadhana to a nearby hospital. When her condition became worse, she was moved to the district hospital. But she died while getting treatment. Sadhana had scored 95 per cent in her Class 10 exams and wanted to become a doctor, the mother told the police.
After performing her daughter’s last rites, the mother went to the police and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case against Dhondiram Bhosale under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
Police officers Vipul Patil and Vinay Vahir visited the spot. Bhosale was arrested by Atpadi Police on Sunday and taken to court. The court has sent him to police custody till June 24.
In a separate matter, some NEET UG candidates from Indore have filed a case in the High Court. They said they faced many problems during the exam held on May 4, 2025. There were power cuts, heavy rain, and storms while they were writing the exam.
The students have asked the court to conduct the NEET UG exam again. The court will hear the case on June 30. The results of around 75 students from Indore have been kept on hold until the court gives its decision.
The NEET UG exam is an important test for students who want to study medicine in India. Thousands of students from across the country prepare for it every year.
