Pune, June 26, 2026: Residents of a housing society in Wakad have alleged that live worms were found in the drinking water supplied to their homes, sparking concerns over possible water contamination and prompting demands for immediate action from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

According to residents, the society had no water supply for three consecutive days. When the supply resumed, several families claimed they noticed small live worms in the water. The matter was immediately reported to civic authorities, and residents requested an inspection of the water supply system.

Residents also said that nearly 15 to 20 families in the society have experienced health issues such as stomach infections, abdominal pain and fever over the past few days. While they suspect the contaminated water may be responsible, the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.

Water samples have been collected and sent for laboratory testing. Residents are awaiting the results and have urged PCMC to inspect the society’s water storage tanks and pipelines, identify the source of contamination, and take corrective measures at the earliest.

The incident has caused concern among residents, especially families with children and senior citizens, who fear the contamination could pose a serious health risk if left unaddressed.

PCMC officials are yet to release the laboratory test results or issue an official statement on the incident. Meanwhile, residents have been advised to use boiled or purified water as a precaution until the water quality is confirmed.
