Pune Rape Case: Woman admits she accused her friend and lodged complaint in anger
Pune, July 3, 2025: Pune police have intensified their search for a man who allegedly posed as a courier delivery agent and raped a 22-year-old woman at her Kondhwa apartment on Tuesday evening.
The shocking incident occurred around 7:30 PM when the accused arrived at the victim’s residence with a bank envelope, claiming it was a courier delivery. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, the man requested a pen to complete delivery formalities. When the woman went inside to fetch one, he forcibly entered her home, shut the door, and sexually assaulted her.
Following the attack, the woman was found unconscious for several hours. Investigators suspect the accused may have used a chemical spray or substance to incapacitate her. A forensic team was called to the scene to collect evidence.
Police are examining a selfie retrieved from the victim’s mobile phone for potential leads. “We have formed 10 teams—five from the Crime Branch and five from Kondhwa police station—to track down the accused. His arrest is our top priority,” DCP Shinde said.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 64 (rape), 77 (house trespass), and 351(2) (assault with intent). The victim’s medical examination has been conducted, and forensic reports are awaited.
Authorities have appealed to residents to remain vigilant and verify the identities of delivery personnel before allowing entry.
