Pune, July 14, 2025: Daily commuters, parents, and school children traveling on Mhalunge Road and Sus Road are grappling with severe traffic congestion, with calls growing for urgent intervention by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Several schools located on this stretch—including Educon International School, DPS Mahalunge, Global School Mahalunge, and Vibgyor High SUS—are being flagged as key contributors to the bottleneck. School buses ferrying students during peak hours, combined with office-goers heading towards Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi Phase 3, have turned this vital corridor into a daily gridlock zone.

“Residents, school kids, parents, and employees heading to offices are all suffering due to the current situation. A survey, some discussions, minor changes in traffic movement, and timing adjustments could go a long way in resolving the issue,” said FITE Maharashtra in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The group also emphasized the need to include schools in any traffic management plan, as their vehicular movement plays a significant role in the congestion.

Echoing these concerns, Member of Parliament Supriya Sule raised the issue on X, urging the PMC to address the problem. “There are two major schools in the Sus area along with several smaller ones. Their buses operate in an uncoordinated manner during morning and afternoon hours, creating hurdles for other vehicles. This road also serves a high volume of commuters traveling to Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park. I request the administration to provide a dedicated lane for school vehicles during peak hours to ease the situation,” she posted, tagging PMC.

Residents hope the civic body will step in promptly to implement practical solutions before the situation worsens.
