Pune: PMRDA Commissioner Reviews Road Development Works in Hinjewadi and Chakan
Pimpri, September 3, 2025: To ease traffic congestion in Hinjewadi and Chakan, concrete measures have been underway for the past month through various administrative departments. Road widening and removal of unauthorized constructions and encroachments have already begun, showing positive results in streamlining traffic.
In this context, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase chaired a joint review meeting with administrative agencies on Wednesday. He instructed officials to expedite pending works.
The actions are being carried out under the directives of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to resolve traffic bottlenecks and urban issues in the region. In Hinjewadi, 19 km of encroachments have already been cleared, narrow roads are being widened, and new road proposals are being prepared. The commissioner directed that land measurement and acquisition proposals be submitted on priority.
The review covered key stretches including Lakshmi Chowk to Mezza-9 Hotel, Pandav Nagar to Man village via Phase 3, Lakshmi Chowk to Marunji to Kolte Patil Gate, Lakshmi Chowk to Padmabhushan Chowk to Wipro Circle, Madhuban Hotel to Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk, Shivaji Chowk to MIDC boundary, Kasarsai Road, Pride Road to Wipro Circle, and others. Ongoing works on alternative routes in Man, Hinjewadi, Marunji, and adjoining areas were also assessed.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Superintendent of Police and Vigilance Officer Amol Zende, Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, Director of Development and Planning Avinash Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Unauthorized Constructions Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi-Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Land and Property Himmat Kharade, along with officials from Water Resources, MIDC, MSEB, MPCB, PWD, National Highways, Municipal Council, and Zilla Parishad.
Action In Chakan To Begin Within A Week:
Following the encroachment removal in Hinjewadi, administrative agencies including PMRDA will now turn their focus to Chakan in the coming week. From Monday, steps will be taken to clear illegal constructions and encroachments to ensure smoother traffic.
The review also included Pune-Nashik elevated corridor (Nashik Phata to Rajgurunagar), Chakan–Talegaon–Shikrapur routes, pothole repairs in industrial zones, traffic congestion issues, truck terminals, and the proposed Chakan bypass roads.
