Pune: Tata Inora Park In Undri Goes Green With 151 kW Rooftop Solar Plant
Pune, September 3, 2025 – In a landmark move toward environmental sustainability and energy independence, Tata Inora Park CHS, a premier residential society in Undri (South Pune), proudly inaugurated its 151 KW rooftop solar power plant on 30 August 2025. The event marked a significant milestone in society’s commitment to green living, renewable energy adoption, and community-driven climate action.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Management Committee, Solar Committee & society residents, who came together to celebrate this forward-thinking initiative. The solar plant is expected to generate approximately 180,000 units of clean electricity annually, reducing the society’s carbon footprint by over 150 metric tons of CO₂ each year.

A Vision for a Greener Future
The decision to install a rooftop solar plant was born out of a collective vision to make Tata Inora Park a model for sustainable urban living. With rising energy costs and increasing environmental concerns, the society’s management committee form Solar Committee to takes this lead, undertook detailed feasibility study in early 2024. After months of planning, vendor selection, and regulatory approvals, the project was successfully commissioned in August 2025.

Members Say From Solar Committee
- Anup Sahoo, a leading member of the Solar Committee, shared his thoughts: “This project is not just about saving on electricity bills. It’s about empowering our community to take charge of our energy future. We’re proud to be among the few housing societies in Pune to implement a solar plant of this scale. The journey was challenging, but the outcome is deeply rewarding and satisfactory.”
- Hatim Borigamwala, Secretary of Management Committee and another core member of the Solar Committee, added: “From the beginning, our goal was to make Tata Inora Park a beacon of sustainability. We focused on transparency, technical excellence, and community involvement. The successful commissioning of this plant is a testament to what collective effort can achieve.”
- Sallaudin Siddique, who played a key role in vendor coordination and execution, remarked: “It good to see that our society MC had taken great step towards renewal energy and underutilized rooftop into a powerhouse of clean energy by putting solar project. It’s a proud moment for all of us.”
Technical Highlights of the Solar Plant
The rooftop solar installation spans multiple buildings within the society and features high-efficiency Topcon solar panels coupled with smart inverters and real-time monitoring systems. The plant is designed to meet a significant portion of the society’s common area electricity needs, including lighting, elevators, STP / ETP pumps, water pumps, and security systems etc.

Financial and Environmental Impact
The solar plant is expected to result in annual savings of ₹30-35 lakhs on electricity bills. Over its lifetime, the system will save the society more than ₹5 crores in long term, making it a financially sound investment. The carbon savings are equivalent to planting over 7,000 trees or removing 35 cars from the road annually.
Community Engagement and Support
One of the most inspiring aspects of the project was the active involvement of residents who came forward to lead this project starting from vendor identification to project completion. Inora Park Management Committee thanks to this enthusiast resident who leading to the front and deliver the project eliminating all the hurdles. The system is equipped with IoT-based monitoring, allowing residents and committee members to track energy generation, savings, and system health in real time via a mobile app.
