Pune, September 4, 2025: The Pune City Police have issued fresh guidelines for the Ganesh immersion procession scheduled on September 6, limiting each Ganesh mandal to a maximum of two dhol-tasha pathaks. Each group can have up to 60 members.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced the rules at a press conference, stating that the restriction aims to prevent overcrowding, minimize delays, and ensure smooth movement during the procession. He clarified that dhol-tasha performances will not be permitted between Manche Ganpati at Tilak Statue, Mandai, and Belbaug Chowk, but may resume beyond Belbaug Chowk.

In line with court directives, regulations on noise levels and dry days will be strictly enforced. Kumar also urged citizens and mandals to cooperate for a safe and orderly event.

Over 9,000 police personnel will be deployed across the city. Strict instructions have been issued that mandals cannot break sequence, leave gaps between each other, or use both DJs and dhol-tasha simultaneously. Stationary playing of dhol-tasha (Sthir Vadan) has also been prohibited to avoid obstruction.

For enhanced monitoring, police will rely on CCTV networks, drone surveillance, AI-based tracking, and dedicated control rooms to oversee the procession and respond swiftly to any emergencies.
