Pune, September 16, 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), in coordination with multiple government agencies, has demolished more than 231 unauthorized constructions and roadside encroachments in Chakan since September 10. The large-scale drive aims to ease severe traffic congestion in the busy industrial hub.

The operation is being carried out with the support of Chakan MIDC and police protection. It covers stretches along the Pune–Nashik Highway and the Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur Road. Officials said the campaign will continue for the next few days to ensure smoother traffic movement.

PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla directed the enforcement, which is being executed in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Chakan Municipal Council, and the Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MSIDC).
