Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast in Maharashtra, IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 25 Districts
Mumbai, September 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts across Maharashtra as the state continues to witness heavy rainfall. The weather department has predicted intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next 24 hours in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions.
Mumbai & Konkan
Mumbai city and suburbs are expected to see cloudy skies with moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature in Mumbai may reach 31°C, while the minimum could hover around 26°C. IMD has placed Raigad and Ratnagiri districts under yellow alert, while Thane, Palghar, and Sindhudurg are also likely to witness heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning.
Western Maharashtra
In Western Maharashtra, Pune and Solapur districts are under yellow alert. Areas along the ghat sections of Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds along with heavy showers.
North Maharashtra
Nashik and Ahmednagar districts have also been placed under yellow alert. Parts of Nashik’s ghat region along with Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and gusty winds.
Marathwada & Vidarbha
All eight districts of Marathwada and all 11 districts of Vidarbha have been placed under yellow alert. IMD has warned of widespread heavy to very heavy showers in these regions, with thunderstorms and lightning expected.
Advisory for Farmers
The ongoing heavy rains are already causing significant crop damage in several areas. Authorities have urged farmers to take precautionary measures to safeguard standing crops and ensure personal safety. The rainfall activity is expected to continue in the coming days.
