Navratri 2025: Pune Police Announces Traffic Diversions and No-Parking Zones Around Major Temples
Pune is gearing up for Sharadiya Navratri, and the city’s traffic police have issued a comprehensive traffic management plan to handle the heavy influx of devotees. From Monday, September 22, to Thursday, October 2, several major temple areas will have road closures, diversions, and no-parking zones to ensure smooth movement and public safety. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Himmat Jadhav has urged citizens to cooperate, use alternate routes, and follow the traffic guidelines for a hassle-free festive experience.
Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple
Vehicle entry from Ganpati Chowk to Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple will be restricted, with alternative routes planned via Shaniwar Wada and Sevasadan Chowk. No-parking zones will be enforced near Ashtabhuja Durga Mandir, Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple, and Ashtabhuja Devi Mandir. Devotees are advised to use Mandai parking or the riverbed road and walk to the temple premises to avoid congestion.
Bhavani Mata Temple
The stretch from Ramoshi Gate Chowk to Old Motor Stand on Mahatma Phule Road will remain closed and will also be a no-parking zone. Drivers can take alternative routes through Bhagwan Bahubali Chowk and AD Camp Chowk. PMPML buses from Ramoshi Gate have been diverted via Golibar Maidan and Seven Loves Chowk. Additional parking for visitors has been arranged on Pandit Nehru Road.
Chaturshringi Mata Temple
Traffic near Chaturshringi Temple will be monitored and managed according to congestion levels. Vehicles from Patrakar Nagar Chowk to Senapati Bapat Junction will be allowed one-way through Shivaji Housing Junction. Vehicles heading to the temple will be diverted via Deep Bungalow Chowk and Vetal Baba Chowk, while those coming from Veer Chaphekar Chowk will take Sanganna Dhotre Path and Suryamukhi Datta Mandir Chowk to reach Pune Polytechnic Parking Gate.
Appa Balwant Chowk
Traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk will be restricted, allowing only one-way movement from Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk. Drivers can use alternative routes via Shivaji Road and Gadgil Putala to navigate around the closed section.
Sarasbaug Mahalaxmi Temple
On Tuesday, September 23, from 5 am to 7 am, traffic will be restricted during the Atharvashirsha Recital. Vehicles from Jedhe Chowk will be diverted from Savarkar Chowk to Puram Chowk, and those coming from Mitramandal Chowk will be redirected via Sinhagad Road Chowk. Roads from Swargate to Savarkar Chowk via Sarasbaug and from Mitramandal Chowk to Puram Chowk will remain temporarily closed during this period.
Kothrud
A no-parking zone has been declared from SBI Bank to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Only two-wheeler parking will be allowed in the P1 and P2 slots from Hutatma Rajguru Statue to the main gate of Jhala Society.
Authorities have requested that commuters and devotees follow these rules, avoid parking near temples, and plan their travel in advance. These measures are designed to make Navratri celebrations safer, smoother, and more enjoyable for everyone in Pune.
