Pune Municipal Commissioner Orders Immediate Action To Ease Congestion On 32 Key Pune Roads
Pune, September 25, 2025: Municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review of 32 major roads that handle nearly 85% of the city’s traffic and directed officials to take swift measures to ease congestion.
The review meeting, attended by senior officials and departmental heads, was based on reports prepared by engineering teams studying persistent traffic bottlenecks.
Key stretches under review included Karve Road, Bajirao Road, Jungli Maharaj Road, Fergusson College Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Ahmednagar Road, Satara Road, Solapur Road, and the Old Pune–Mumbai Road.
After a presentation of the findings, the commissioner emphasized the need for immediate corrective action. “All illegal structures, roadside hawkers, electric poles, and other obstructions affecting traffic movement must be removed without delay,” Ram instructed.
He further directed that unnecessary U-turns obstructing smooth vehicular movement should be closed, while stressing the importance of close coordination between the municipal administration, traffic police, MSEDCL, and other service providers. The aim, he said, is to ensure these arterial roads remain free of encumbrances and capable of handling the city’s growing traffic load efficiently.
