New Delhi, October 17, 2025: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website faced a major technical glitch on Friday, leaving passengers across the country unable to book train tickets just days before the Deepavali festival.

Thousands of users reported login failures and server errors on both the IRCTC website and mobile app. Many took to social media to complain about their inability to book or confirm tickets during the festive rush.

According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks online service outages, over 6,000 complaints were registered by users after 10 a.m. The IRCTC website displayed a message reading, “This server is temporarily unable to service requests. Error code: 119.”

The disruption comes at a critical time as Indian Railways recently announced 51 special trains to handle the increased demand during the festive season. Passengers expressed frustration, urging the authorities to restore services quickly to avoid further inconvenience.

IRCTC officials are yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the outage or the expected restoration time.
