Cabin crew contains minor fire within seconds; aircraft later cleared for operations
A minor fire incident occurred onboard an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Dimapur on October 19 when a passenger’s power bank caught fire while the aircraft was taxiing at the Delhi airport.
Flight 6E 2107, scheduled to depart at 12:25 pm, returned to the bay as a precaution. IndiGo confirmed in a statement that the fire was quickly contained by the cabin crew, who followed standard safety procedures. No injuries to passengers or crew were reported.
“The crew managed the situation promptly by diligently following the standard operating procedure, and the incident was controlled within seconds,” the airline said.
After the aircraft was inspected and all safety checks were completed, it was cleared for departure. According to flight tracking platform Flightradar24, the Airbus A320neo aircraft eventually took off from Delhi at 2:33 pm and landed in Dimapur, Nagaland, at 4:45 pm.
IndiGo added that relevant authorities were informed as per protocol. The airline also thanked passengers for staying calm and cooperative during the situation, noting that refreshments were provided to minimise inconvenience.
Details on the number of passengers onboard were not immediately available.
