Tamannaah Bhatia’s Fitness Coach Explains Why Most People Fail Their Diets: “It’s Not About Discipline, It’s About Sustainability”
Have you ever started a diet feeling fully motivated, only to find yourself giving up after a few days or weeks? You’re definitely not alone. Many people set out to eat healthy and transform their lifestyle, but as celebrity fitness coach Siddhartha Singh, who trains actor Tamannaah Bhatia, points out, the real reason people can’t stick to their diets often has less to do with willpower and more to do with unrealistic expectations.
In a video he shared on Instagram on October 29, Siddhartha opened up about a client who confessed that she simply couldn’t follow her diet plan. Curious, he asked her what her meals looked like—and her answer left him shocked. Her entire “diet” consisted of liquids: orange juice in the morning, bottle gourd (lauki) juice in the afternoon, and bitter gourd (karela) juice in the evening.
Siddhartha admitted that he was stunned. “I was like, ‘That’s it? That’s your diet?’ No wonder you couldn’t stick to it. That’s not even food; that’s literally liquid!” he said. According to the trainer, this is exactly why so many diets fail.
People often fall into the trap of following crash diets that promise quick results but are impossible to maintain. “The only time you can’t stick to a diet,” he explained, “is when it’s not sustainable. When it’s a crash diet. Something like ‘Let’s stop eating carbs’ or ‘Let’s not have sugar for the rest of our lives.’ If it sounds unrealistic even when you say it out loud to others, chances are it’s not something you can follow in the long run.”
He further emphasized that a good diet should be something you can imagine following for life, not just for a few weeks. Singh believes that nutrition shouldn’t make you miserable; it should make you feel capable and balanced. “If your diet is just lauki juice, karela juice, and orange juice with nothing else, it’s going to make you unhappy.
And once you feel miserable, you start questioning yourself—‘Why can’t I stick to diets? Maybe something’s wrong with me or my metabolism.’ But there’s nothing wrong with you,” he said. The coach explained that people often blame themselves for lacking discipline when, in reality, the diet plan they’re following is the real problem.
Singh concluded by encouraging everyone to stop chasing extreme diet trends and instead focus on building a structured, balanced, and sustainable approach to eating.
Real progress, he said, comes from consistency and patience, not deprivation or quick fixes. If your nutrition plan feels doable and flexible enough to fit your life, you’re already on the right path.
