Pune, November 26, 2025: On 3rd November, near the Ganesh Temple beside MM Hotel in the Aundh Road–Bopodi area, a pedestrian woman walking on the road was hit by a tempo due to encroachment on the footpath. She sustained serious injuries.

To demand a safe footpath at this location and proper planning for vehicles to take U-turns, Aam Aadmi Party conducted a signature campaign with local citizens. Mukund Kirdat, Annie Anish, Vikas Chavan, and Anish Varghese submitted a petition with signatures of nearly 250 residents to the Aundh Ward Office.

Although development works have been carried out under the Smart City project in the Aundh–Bopodi area, there are still no adequate and safe footpaths for senior citizens, small children, and women using this road. Due to the encroached footpaths, pedestrians are forced to walk on the road.

The stretch from Bremen Chowk to Khadki Railway Station is always busy with traffic, and heavy vehicles do not have sufficient road width to take U-turns. Several parts of the footpath from Ambedkar Chowk to Khadki Railway Station are encroached. Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that these encroachments be properly rehabilitated or removed.

AAP spokesperson Mukund Kirdat stated that the Municipal Corporation should comply with the directives issued by the Supreme Court in Delhi on 7th October 2025 regarding pedestrian safety, conduct an audit of the footpaths, and prepare an action plan.
