Maharashtra: A fresh weather alert has been issued for Maharashtra as the state continues to reel under intense cold conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that while the cold wave is likely to ease slightly from December 5, the overall chill will persist across many regions, including Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and North Maharashtra.

The first week of December brought a sharp drop in temperatures to several districts, with single-digit minimum temperatures recorded in parts of North Maharashtra and Marathwada. The IMD had also sounded cold wave warnings for select areas on December 4. Even though a marginal improvement is expected from December 5, residents will continue to experience biting cold in many pockets.
