New Delhi, December 5, 2025: IndiGo on Friday announced the cancellation of all its domestic departures from Delhi airport until midnight, as the airline’s operational crisis stretched into its fourth consecutive day. Earlier in the day, officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had indicated that cancellations would be in place only till 3 pm, but the disruption expanded as the situation worsened.

The extended shutdown has left tens of thousands of passengers stranded, with many expressing anger over long delays, last-minute cancellations, and rising airfares. Several travellers said they had already boarded their aircraft when they were suddenly asked to deboard after flights were called off.

By Friday afternoon, IndiGo issued a public apology on platform X, assuring passengers that full refunds would be processed for all cancelled services.

According to sources, the ongoing chaos stems largely from a sudden shortage of pilots, linked to gaps in the airline’s internal planning. The fallout has severely affected IndiGo’s operations despite its massive network of 2,300 flights a day and a fleet exceeding 400 aircraft.

Regulatory authorities are closely monitoring the developing situation as delays and cancellations are expected to persist in the coming days.
