Pune, December 12, 2025:  Increasing incidents of drunken behaviour and nuisance near the entrance of the Sulochana Kudale Swimming Pool—located behind Narayanbag Society in the densely populated Vadgaon Budruk area on Sinhagad Road—have caused severe distress to local residents.

Women, young girls, pedestrians, and families living nearby have complained of harassment and late-night disturbances due to the activities of drunk individuals and local miscreants.

Pune City President of the Aam Aadmi Party, Dhananjay Benkar, has submitted an official complaint to the Pune Police Commissioner, demanding firm action to curb the situation. He stated that despite repeated complaints by citizens, police intervention has been lacking, leaving residents anxious and unsafe.

Benkar pointed out that the Pune Municipal Corporation constructed the swimming pool at significant cost, with a dedicated access road. Since the pool has remained closed for an extended period, the road sees minimal traffic. Taking advantage of the deserted stretch, groups of drunk men reportedly gather near the pool gate from evening until late night—and often until 3–4 am—engaging in loud gatherings and unruly behaviour.

Residents of nearby bungalows, housing societies, and retired government officials have been facing continuous disturbances, severely affecting the peace of the neighbourhood.

The complaint demands increased night patrolling, especially between 8 pm and 4 am, and strict action against drunk individuals and local miscreants to restore order and safety in the area.
