An easy home remedy using everyday ingredients is helping people clean stubborn bathroom tiles without expensive cleaners.

Yellow stains, soap residue, and hard-water marks on bathroom tiles are a common problem in many homes. Over time, these stains settle deep into tile surfaces, making them difficult to remove even with commercial cleaners. While many people spend money on chemical products, a simple and low-cost home remedy is now gaining attention for its effectiveness.

The cleaning method has been shared by home expert and YouTube. According to her, years-old grime on bathroom tiles can be loosened and removed in just a few minutes using ingredients that are already available in most households.

The solution requires only four basic items: baking powder, lemon juice, white vinegar, and a small sachet of regular shampoo. Baking powder helps loosen hardened stains, while lemon juice contains citric acid that works on soap residue and mineral deposits. White vinegar enhances the cleaning action, and shampoo helps create foam that lifts sticky dirt from tile surfaces.

To prepare the mixture, one spoon of baking powder is mixed with fresh lemon juice, followed by one spoon of white vinegar. Finally, a sachet of shampoo is added and blended well to form a foamy paste.

Instead of using an artificial scrubber, the method suggests using the leftover lemon peel after extracting the juice. The rough texture of the peel acts as a natural scrub and helps spread the mixture evenly across stained areas. The paste should be rubbed onto tiles where yellow stains and grime have accumulated.

Once applied, the mixture should be left on the tiles for about five to ten minutes. During this time, the ingredients react with soap layers and hard-water stains, softening them and making removal easier.

After the waiting period, lightly scrubbing the tiles with the lemon peel is often enough for regular stains. For older or tougher buildup, gentle use of steel wool can be done carefully without applying too much pressure. Once the stains loosen, the tiles should be rinsed thoroughly with clean water.

Users who have tried this method report that tiles regain their natural shine and look visibly cleaner without harsh chemicals. The lemon and vinegar also leave behind a fresh feel, making the bathroom appear brighter and more hygienic.

Extra tips to prevent yellowing of tiles:

Wipe tiles dry after each use.

Perform a light cleaning once a week.

Maintain proper drainage to prevent hard water stains
