Pune, December 23, 2025: Residents of Undri have demanded urgent action from the Pune Traffic Police and civic authorities after a crane allegedly lost control on a steep residential road and crashed into a two-wheeler near a society gate, leaving the rider critically injured and killing his pet dog.

The incident occurred on an internal sloping road outside a Tata Inora residential society, where the crane was reportedly moving downhill when the driver lost control. The heavy vehicle rammed into an Activa scooter that was passing through the area at the time.

The scooter rider sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains under treatment.

Following the incident, residents expressed fear and anger, stating that the road is regularly used by pedestrians, including children and senior citizens. Locals alleged that heavy vehicles frequently use the narrow and steep residential stretch despite repeated complaints and the clear safety risks involved.

Residents from housing societies including Godrej Greens, Godrej Prana and Tata Inora have come together to demand strict restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles in residential areas. They have urged authorities to review permissions granted to such vehicles and enforce traffic regulations more strictly to prevent further accidents.

The incident has intensified calls for accountability and immediate preventive measures to ensure the safety of residents and commuters in Undri.
