Pune, December 27, 2025: Senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe’s recent post on social media has struck an emotional chord, after he shared a torn piece of an old newspaper carrying a 2005 report from Pune that marked a major milestone in his career. The post has since gone viral, drawing widespread reactions.

Mundhe, who has often been in the news for administrative controversies and recent allegations raised during the state legislature’s winter session, shared the clipping on his X (formerly Twitter) handle under the caption “Pull of Memories”. The yellowed article reported his success in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, in which he had secured an All India Rank of 20.

The newspaper report dated May 25, 2005, mentions that Mundhe, a native of Tadsone village in Beed district, had completed his MA in Political Science and was pursuing a PhD on “India’s Nuclear Policy” under the guidance of Dr Shantishree Pandit at the time. The article also carried the names of three other successful candidates—Arif Shaikh, Nitin Waghmode and Sharda Nikam—who had cleared the prestigious examination that year.

Reacting to the clipping, Mundhe said he had not preserved such moments himself but was grateful to friends and well-wishers who shared them with him. “I will treasure these memories all my life,” he wrote, expressing heartfelt thanks to those who helped him relive the moment.

The nostalgic post has resonated with many users online, offering a rare personal glimpse into the early journey of one of Maharashtra’s most talked-about civil servants.
