PMPML Prohibits Unauthorised Photography and Videography on Buses and Premises
Pune’s public transport authority, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML), has introduced strict rules against capturing photos, videos, or making social media reels on its buses and properties without formal permission. The move aims to uphold administrative discipline and ensure public trust in the city’s transport operations.
Officials revealed that several employees were found using mobile phones to take pictures and record videos during working hours. These materials, often shared on social media, featured official PMPML logos and identity cards, creating a risk of misrepresentation. Moreover, there have been cases where drivers and conductors allowed passengers to shoot videos or make reels inside buses, depots, and other PMPML facilities without authorisation.
The newly issued circular clearly states that any photography or videography of PMPML buses, operations, or premises requires prior approval from the authorities. Violating these guidelines will result in disciplinary action under service rules. Deputy chief managers have been instructed to ensure that both staff and private bus operators affiliated with PMPML are fully informed about these regulations.
PMPML has also issued a stern warning that police complaints will be lodged against anyone found misusing the organisation’s logo, e-ticketing machines, identity cards, or buses for unauthorised social media content.
Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore emphasised that content created without permission during duty hours often portrays a distorted image of the organisation. “PMPML buses, logos, identity cards, and operational systems cannot be used for personal publicity or social media content without official approval,” he stated.
