Pune: Civilian Employee Found Dead at NDA Khadakwasla; Police Probe Underway
Pune, January 9, 2026: A civilian employee posted at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, was found dead in an incident of unnatural death reported on January 8, police officials confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Mayur Pawar (31), who was serving as a cadet orderly and employed as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) at the NDA. According to preliminary information, Pawar was found unresponsive around 5.45 pm inside a furniture store on the NDA परिसर while he was on duty with a squadron.
The incident was immediately reported to the authorities, following which personnel from Uttamnagar Police Station reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Pawar, a resident of Lamanwadi, Khadakwasla, had been associated with the NDA for nearly 11 years.
Police officials stated that a note was recovered from the scene, indicating that Pawar was under financial stress. The note reportedly mentioned that no individual should be held responsible for the incident. Further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances related to the case.
The deceased’s family has been informed, and the body has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, for post-mortem examination as per standard procedure.
In an official statement, the Commandant and personnel of the National Defence Academy expressed deep condolences and said the institution stands with the bereaved family during this difficult time. The NDA has assured full cooperation with civil authorities and support to the family.
