Wakad, 10 January: A large gathering was held at Samrat Chowk in Wakad on Saturday as Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale addressed citizens.

Athawale said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and a few others are spreading false claims that the central government plans to change the Constitution. He said the government would never allow that and would only work to strengthen it further. He appealed to voters to support Bharatiya Janata Party for continued development.

The corner meeting was organized in support of BJP’s official panel in Ward 25, consisting of Rahul Kalate, Shruti Wakadkar, Reshma Bhujbal and Kunal Vavhalkar. A large number of citizens, party functionaries and workers were present for the event.

Addressing the gathering, Shruti Ram Wakadkar highlighted the development vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. She said capable, honest and development-focused leadership at the level of local bodies is the foundation of this election. Rahul Kalate said that his family has had close relations with residents in this area for years and has always worked for them. He recalled that his father was the first corporator from Wakad, followed by his mother, and now he continues the same service. He said the panel has already delivered planned development and various amenities in the ward and will continue all-round development alongside Shruti Wakadkar, Kunal Vavhalkar and Reshma Bhujbal. He urged voters to elect the full panel for that purpose. Shruti Ram Wakadkar added that BJP’s approach has always been centered on development, good governance, transparency and public welfare. She said citizens now have even more confidence that BJP will return to power in the municipal corporation with a majority and deliver comprehensive development in the ward.

During his speech, Athawale opened with a poem dedicated to all four candidates, drawing applause and whistles from the crowd. Expressing confidence in Rahul Kalate’s leadership, he said the full panel would win with a strong majority.
