Pune: Bogus Voting Allegations Surface In Prabhag 41 Mohammadwadi Undri; BJP And Shiv Sena Candidates Raise Concerns
Pune, January 15, 2026: Allegations of bogus voting have emerged from Prabhag 41 during the ongoing Pune Municipal Corporation Election 2026, with candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) accusing unidentified groups of electoral malpractices across several localities.
Snehal Ganpat Dagade, the BJP candidate from Prabhag 41, alleged that bogus voting is taking place at multiple polling booths in areas including Undri, Pisoli, Wadachiwadi, and Handewadi. Speaking to the media, Dagade claimed that voters from Beed and Kej were being brought to Pune under the pretext of going on a pilgrimage and were subsequently made to cast votes illegally.

She described the alleged practice as a serious threat to the democratic process and demanded immediate intervention by the election authorities. “If such activities continue unchecked, they will undermine public faith in free and fair elections,” Dagade said. She urged the Election Commission and local administration to verify voter identities strictly and take firm action against those found indulging in bogus voting.
Dagade also made a strong appeal to educated and genuine voters to step out in large numbers and exercise their constitutional right. “High voter turnout is the strongest response to those trying to manipulate the electoral process,” she added, calling upon citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity at polling booths.
Echoing similar concerns, Pramod Vasant Bhangire, a candidate from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) contesting from the same Prabhag, alleged that reports of bogus voting have been received from several polling stations within Prabhag 41. Bhangire stated that such incidents, if proven true, amount to a serious violation of election norms.
He confirmed that the police have been informed about the alleged malpractices and that further action is being pursued. “We have brought these matters to the notice of the authorities and expect immediate preventive and corrective steps,” Bhangire said.
Both candidates appealed to the electorate to participate actively in the voting process and ensure that democracy is strengthened through mass participation. “Maximum voter turnout is essential to defeat any attempt at electoral fraud,” Bhangire emphasized.
Election officials, meanwhile, are closely monitoring the situation. While no official confirmation of large-scale irregularities has been issued so far, authorities have assured that complaints are being taken seriously and appropriate action will be initiated after verification.
