Pune Civic Polls 2026 Underway; Voter Turnout Touches 14.92% by 11:30 AM
Pune, January 15,Ā 2026: Voting for theĀ Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) General Election 2026Ā began peacefully across the city onĀ Thursday morning at 7:30 am, with polling proceeding smoothly and no reports of any untoward incidents.
According to the Pune Municipal Corporation, all polling stations are functioning normally, and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been reported to be in proper working condition. Election officials confirmed that the voting process is being conducted in an orderly and transparent manner under tight administrative supervision.
A steady flow of voters was witnessed during the morning hours, with senior citizens and first-time voters turning up early at polling booths to exercise their franchise. Election authorities said the enthusiastic participation reflects growing civic awareness among citizens.
The civic administration stated that law and order conditions remain under control across all wards of the city. Adequate arrangements have been made to ensure voter safety, crowd management, and smooth polling operations. No complaints of irregularities or disruptions have been reported from any polling center so far.
As per the preliminary turnout figures, voter participation stood at 6.37 per cent between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. The turnout increased to 14.92 per cent by 11:30 am, indicating a gradual rise in voter participation as the day progressed.
Election officials are closely monitoring the polling process and have appealed to citizens to vote responsibly and in large numbers. Voting is scheduled to continue throughout the day, and authorities remain confident that the election will conclude peacefully.
