PCMC Election Results 2026: BJP Sweeps Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mahesh Landge Hands Big Setback to Ajit Pawar Camp
BJP wins 85 of 128 seats in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, ending years of NCP dominance and reshaping local political power.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) election results for 2026 have delivered a decisive mandate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party, marking a major political shift in one of Maharashtra’s most important urban bodies. BJP secured a commanding victory by winning 85 out of the total 128 seats, leaving the Ajit Pawar–Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party far behind with just 33 seats. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) managed to win only seven seats, while the Thackeray faction and MNS failed to open their account.
The contest was closely watched because of the direct political face-off between BJP MLA Mahesh Landge and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, often referred to as the political architect of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Landge’s camp not only defended BJP’s influence but expanded it, delivering what is being described as one of the party’s most decisive civic victories in Maharashtra in recent years.
With this result, BJP has returned to power in PCMC with a strong majority, effectively ending the long-standing dominance of the Nationalist Congress Party in the industrial city. The outcome is being seen as both a local mandate for governance and a larger political message ahead of future state-level battles.
In numerical terms, the results reflect a clear verdict:
- BJP: 85 seats
- NCP (Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar faction): 33 seats
- Shiv Sena (Shinde faction): 7 seats
- Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction): 0 seats
- MNS: 0 seats
As counting progressed, BJP workers across Pimpri, Chinchwad, and nearby areas celebrated with slogans, firecrackers, and rallies. For the party, this win is being projected as proof of strong organisational grip and voter confidence in urban governance.
Several wards showed a clean sweep by BJP candidates, strengthening its control across all major zones of the municipal corporation. High-profile victories in key wards helped consolidate the narrative that Mahesh Landge’s leadership and BJP’s campaign strategy resonated strongly with voters.

Some of the notable ward-wise results included:

The ward-level outcomes clearly show BJP’s dominance in most zones, with only scattered resistance from the NCP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). The inability of the Thackeray faction and MNS to win even a single seat highlights the shrinking influence of these parties in Pimpri-Chinchwad’s civic politics.
Politically, this result strengthens Mahesh Landge’s position as the most influential leader in the PCMC region. For Ajit Pawar, the defeat is being seen as a major symbolic setback in an area long considered his stronghold. The results also weaken the bargaining power of opposition parties in future urban development and administrative decisions.
With BJP now firmly in control, the focus will shift to governance, infrastructure, industrial development, and civic services in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The scale of the mandate has raised public expectations, and the party will be under pressure to translate its electoral success into visible improvements on the ground.
In Maharashtra’s civic politics, PCMC 2026 will be remembered as the election that decisively redrew the power map of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
