Weather Alert Maharashtra For January 18: Temperature Fluctuations Continue Across State, IMD Issues Advisory
Maharashtra, January 17: Maharashtra is currently witnessing significant fluctuations in temperature, with residents experiencing contrasting weather conditions within the same day. While afternoons in several regions are turning uncomfortably warm, the impact of winter has not completely faded, especially during early mornings and nights. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert stating that similar weather conditions are likely to persist over the next few days.
Gondia has recorded the lowest temperature in the state, with the mercury dropping to 8 degrees Celsius, highlighting the continuing cold wave impact in parts of Vidarbha.
According to the IMD, most parts of Maharashtra, including the Konkan region, are expected to witness mainly clear weather on January 18. Mumbai is likely to remain dry with no cloud cover. Daytime heat may be felt, with maximum temperatures reaching around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover near 18 degrees Celsius. Mild chill is expected during mornings and nights.
In Western Maharashtra, early morning cold conditions will prevail, followed by a gradual rise in temperature during the day. Pune may experience light morning fog with partly clear skies. The city’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could drop to 14 degrees Celsius, resulting in cool mornings and warm afternoons.
The Marathwada region will also see cold mornings, with daytime heat increasing due to clear skies. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to record a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius. Cloudy nights over the past few days have reduced nighttime chill, contributing to temperature variability.
North Maharashtra will continue to experience changing weather patterns. Nashik is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of light fog in the morning.
Vidarbha remains one of the coldest regions, with noticeable temperature swings. Nagpur is likely to see clear skies, a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, and a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius. Gondia continues to record the lowest temperatures in the state.
Health experts have cautioned that frequent temperature changes may increase the risk of seasonal illnesses such as cold, cough, fever, and body aches. Citizens are advised to wear warm clothing during mornings and nights and take necessary health precautions.
