Pune: Centre Takes Cognisance of Complaint Against Wipro Over Onboarding Delays, Matter Sent To Karnataka Labour Department
Pune, January 29, 2026: In a significant development, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, has formally taken cognisance of a complaint filed against IT major Wipro Limited over prolonged onboarding delays affecting selected candidates. The Union Ministry has now forwarded the matter to the Principal Secretary of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka, for examination and necessary action.
With this step, the issue has officially entered the state government’s jurisdiction for inquiry, signalling that the grievance has been treated as serious and actionable by the Centre.
The complaint, raised by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), pertains to more than 250 selected fresh graduates who were issued Letters of Intent and onboarding communications by Wipro. According to NITES, these candidates also completed background verification formalities but have been left waiting for several months without any confirmation of joining, rejection, or clear communication from the company.
NITES has alleged that the prolonged uncertainty has caused financial stress and mental anxiety among the affected candidates, many of whom declined other job opportunities based on Wipro’s assurance of employment.
Commenting on the development, NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja said the forwarding of the complaint by the Union Ministry to the Karnataka Labour Department confirms the gravity of the issue. He added that the organisation expects a fair and time-bound inquiry to ensure accountability and relief for the affected youth.
The matter is now expected to be examined by the Karnataka Labour Department, which will determine the next course of action in accordance with labour laws and employment regulations.
