New Delhi | January 20, 2026: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has submitted a formal complaint to the Union Labour Minister against IT major Wipro Limited, alleging serious irregularities in its recruitment process that have impacted more than 250 freshly recruited graduates across multiple states.

According to NITES, the affected candidates were selected through campus recruitment drives and were issued Letters of Intent (LoIs). Several of them also received confirmed onboarding emails specifying joining dates and work locations. The candidates reportedly completed all mandatory formalities, including background verification, which was marked as fully cleared in Wipro’s internal systems.

Relying on these assurances, many students declined alternative job offers or were restricted by campus placement rules from seeking other employment. However, despite fulfilling all requirements, the candidates were allegedly not onboarded, and have been left waiting for six to eight months without any written communication, confirmed joining date, or formal rejection.

NITES stated that repeated follow-ups by candidates were met with silence or automated responses, often citing vague “business requirements.” The union further alleged that during this waiting period, Wipro continued onboarding other candidates, leaving the selected graduates in prolonged uncertainty.

The organisation highlighted the severe personal and professional impact on the affected youth, noting that many have remained unemployed for months after selection. According to NITES, this has resulted in financial strain, emotional distress, and loss of confidence, not only for the candidates but also for their families, who placed trust in the reputation of a leading IT company.

Terming the issue as more than a routine HR delay, NITES described it as a pan-India pattern of unfair recruitment practices that raises serious concerns about corporate accountability in youth employment. The union has urged the government to take urgent cognisance of the matter and ensure justice for the affected candidates.

The complaint was submitted by Harpreet Singh Saluja, President, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES).
