Pune Traffic Police Crack Down On Drunk Driving, Book 191 Offenders In Three-Day Special Drive
Pune, February 3, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Department conducted a three-day special enforcement drive against drunk driving from January 30 to February 1, 2026, taking strict action against motorists found violating traffic laws under the influence of alcohol.
As part of the campaign, traffic police teams set up checkpoints at 30 locations across various parts of the city and carried out intensive inspections during the three-day period. The operation aimed to curb drunk driving and enhance road safety amid rising concerns over traffic accidents.
During the special drive, a total of 191 vehicle drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol. Legal action was initiated against all offenders under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including the imposition of fines and further statutory procedures.
The Pune City Traffic Department has appealed to citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules, stressing that driving after consuming alcohol is a serious offence that significantly increases the risk of accidents. Authorities urged motorists to act responsibly and help ensure the safety of both themselves and other road users.
