Class 12 Student Slaps Female Teacher During Exam, CCTV Video Sparks Outrage
The incident in Panchmahal has raised fresh concerns over teacher safety, discipline in schools, and rising aggression among students.
A disturbing incident from Gujarat’s Panchmahal district has triggered widespread outrage after a Class 12 student allegedly slapped a woman teacher inside a school examination hall for questioning his late arrival. The episode, captured on CCTV, has reignited debate on safety and respect for educators in academic institutions.
According to police, the incident took place on January 24 at SJ Dave High School in Shehra town, where preliminary examinations were underway. The accused, identified as 18-year-old Mohammad Khan Ansari, reportedly arrived late for the second preliminary test.
When the female invigilator asked him why he was delayed, the student allegedly reacted aggressively and retorted, “No one questions me at home, so who are you to question me?” Police said he then slapped the teacher on her cheek, pushed her, and fled the classroom.
The CCTV footage of the assault later went viral on social media, drawing strong condemnation from teachers, parents, and the wider public.

While the student’s father reportedly apologised to the teacher and the school’s in-charge principal, Vipul Pathak, the matter escalated further days later. Police said that on January 27, the student allegedly returned to the school accompanied by his father and a group of 15 to 20 people. The group reportedly threatened the staff, warning the teacher of harm and claiming she lived alone in the town.
Following the teacher’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Shehra police station on February 3 against the student, four named individuals, and several unidentified persons. Police have arrested three accused so far, while further investigation remains underway.
Police Inspector Ankur Chaudhary said a reconstruction of the incident was carried out in the teacher’s presence to confirm the sequence of events. He clarified that the accused were not publicly paraded and that the exercise followed standard legal procedure.
The student was later produced before a court, which granted him bail the same day. An apology video also surfaced afterward, though authorities are continuing to examine the threats made to school staff.
The incident has sparked anger among teachers across Panchmahal, with many demanding strict action not only against the student but also against those who supported or accompanied him back to the school. Educators have stressed that such attacks reflect a growing breakdown of discipline and the urgent need for stronger safeguards in schools.
