Parapet segment from under-construction line falls onto auto on LBS Road; probe underway
Mumbai: One person died and four others were injured on Saturday afternoon after a portion of an under-construction metro structure collapsed in Mulund.
The incident occurred around 12:15 pm on LBS Road, near the Johnson & Johnson factory, when a parapet segment from a metro pillar reportedly fell from a height onto a passing auto-rickshaw.
According to officials, the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are receiving treatment. Their condition is currently under observation.
In a statement, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said that metro project staff immediately reached the spot and began relief and safety operations. The agency added that the site is being secured in coordination with the BMC and disaster management teams.
Further investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
