Pune: Civic Issues Discussed At First General Body Meeting Of Phursungi Municipal Council
Pune, February 24, 2026: The newly established Fursungi Municipal Council has officially commenced its administrative functioning, holding its first general body meeting recently. Key discussions focused on providing essential civic amenities, offering much-needed relief to local residents.
The council emphasized aligning available funds with development projects, prioritizing basic infrastructure in its initial phase. Major issues discussed during the meeting included roads, sewage systems, and stormwater drainage.
Under the District Planning Committee (DPC), road projects worth up to ₹25 crore are expected to receive approval, and proposals are set to be prepared accordingly. The widening of 25 roads in the area was proposed, with priority given to five key roads within the village limits. The plan includes removing encroachments and undertaking simultaneous development of stormwater drains and sewage lines along with road widening. This integrated approach is expected to spare citizens from repeated disruptions caused by recurring roadwork.
Water supply and solid waste management were also taken up for discussion. In response to repeated complaints of contaminated water supply in certain areas, the council plans to implement corrective measures. Discussions were held on extending water pipelines to areas not yet covered and reducing dependence on water tankers.
