Pune, March 20, 2026: In a miraculous escape, a young doctor survived a fall of nearly 300–350 feet into a deep valley near Sinhagad Fort and was successfully rescued after a challenging operation on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred along the popular trekking route from Katraj to Sinhagad, a well-known trail among trekking enthusiasts. The injured individual, identified as Dr. Prashant Nadavate, had visited the area for a trek when the accident took place.

According to officials, Dr. Nadavate slipped while walking near the Budhla Machi section of Sinhagad fort and plunged into the deep valley. He reportedly lost consciousness briefly after the fall. Upon regaining consciousness, he showed presence of mind and immediately contacted the police control room using his mobile phone, sharing his exact location.

Acting swiftly on the alert, the Haveli Police and a local disaster management team rushed to the spot. The rescue operation, led by team head Tanaji Bhosale along with members Ganesh Sapkal, Santosh Jadhav, Vaibhav Bhosale, Kailas Jarande, and Police Constable Samadhan Chormale, was launched under extremely difficult conditions.

Despite dense vegetation and treacherous terrain, the team descended into the valley and conducted a meticulous search. After nearly two to two-and-a-half hours of intense efforts, they successfully brought Dr. Nadavate to safety. He sustained minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities have cautioned that trekking in the Sinhagad region has become risky due to changing weather conditions and slippery paths. Officials emphasized the importance of carrying fully charged mobile phones and being aware of emergency contact numbers, which proved crucial in saving the doctor’s life.
