Pune, March 23, 2026: A major water pipeline operated by the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran burst in the early hours of Monday, triggering a flood-like situation in Magarpatta City and nearby areas in Hadapsar.

According to officials, the pipeline, which runs over a canal behind Magarpatta City, ruptured around midnight, leading to a massive influx of water into residential and surrounding zones. Between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., a significant volume of water accumulated across parts of Magarpatta, raising concerns among residents and prompting an emergency response.

Authorities swiftly mobilised teams to manage the situation. Local security personnel from Magarpatta City, along with officials from the Hadapsar Police and the Hadapsar Fire Brigade, reached the spot and initiated control measures to prevent further escalation.

Officials monitoring the situation stated that coordinated efforts helped bring the situation under control within a few hours. Water flow has since been contained, and no major injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

Residents were initially alarmed due to the sudden surge of water in the area during the night. However, authorities have urged citizens not to panic, assuring that the situation is now stable and under constant supervision.

Citizens have been advised to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.

Officials confirmed that the situation is fully under control at present, and further assessment of damage, if any, is underway.
